Rishikesh is the land of beauty and serenity; it is not very far from Delhi and is a good weekend destination. One must take a tour around the city and feel the calmness spread over here. This city hosted the annual International Yoga Festival in the first week of March since 1989. The Rishikesh package serves you a good time to experience every mountain top if you just keep climbing. Rishikesh attracts many tourists for The Rajaji Park which is situated at the basin of the Ganges, and this is another famous tourist spot.
Nearest Airport is JollyGrant Airport at Dehradun. However, Haridwar is well-connected with a network of rail and roadways. Haridwar is about 200 kilometers away from Delhi and thousands of tourists visit Haridwar every year. Railway Junction is also there for more convenient traveling.
Geeta Bhawan : This is one of the most ancient temple complexes in Rishikesh. The walls of the temple bear the writings from the well known epics Mahabharata and Ramayana. There is a meditation hall in the complex where the devotees assemble to say their prayers. The Ayurvedic department over here is prepares medicines using the herbs from Himalayas and water from River Ganga.
Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple : This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and is one of the most sought after place in Rishikesh. According to the Hindu mythology Lord Shiva drank poison over here, which was produced after churning the sea water. Lord Shiva's throat turned blue after drinking the poison and thus he was named Nilkanth. The temple is situated at the height of 5000 ft and gives the picturesque view of the surrounding places.
Lakshman Jhula : It is one of the chief attractions in the town, and is just the suspension of the bridge across the River Ganga. According to Hindu Mythology this bridge is believed to be formed with the help of jute ropes by Lakshman, and was thus named as Lakshman Jhula. One can get the most stunning view of the sacred river from here, which flows below. Tourists who visit to Lakshman Jhula enjoy feeding the fishes in the river.
Triveni Ghat : This is the chief bathing ghat in the holy city of Rishikesh, thousands of devotees throng the ghat to take a dip early in the morning. The ghat is named Triveni because it is believed that the 3 rivers Yamuna, Ganga and Saraswati congregate here. The ghat attracts large number of people during the evening when the aarti is done. The priests offer prayers, perform puja and chant mantras during the evening time. The people get the spectacular view of this river after the aarti when thousands of lamps are set to float in the river.
pickup from Delhi (hotel/railway station/airport) and drive to Rishikesh. On arrival, you are transferred to your Hotel. Take a rest at the hotel and you are free to visit the local market in the evening.
In the morning, after breakfast we leave for a full day of sightseeing the town. We visit Lakshman Jhula, Laxman Temple, Sacha Akhileswar Temple, 13 story temple, Ram Jhula, Swarg Ashram and Geeta Bhavan. In the evening participate in Ganga Ceremony (ganga arti) at Parmarth Niketan. Stay at hotel overnight.
In the morning after breakfast, check out from hotel. Visit Rishikesh Ghats and experience Hindu rituals or visit more interesting places. Later drive to Delhi. Drop at Hotel / airport / railway station.
